Hear the sights

There's no mistaking it - Toronto is a gorgeous city filled with beautiful scenery, remarkable architecture, and enough galleries and events to fill your time.  But why leave one of your most precious senses out of the fun?  Take a day to experience not only the sights, but also the sounds that have earned Toronto the name the creative city. Suggested Time - 1 Day.

Day 1

Morning
There’s no need to be an early bird today. Get your rest; it could end up being a late night.

Rotate This!

As one of Toronto's best-known independent record shops, Rotate This! has provided listeners with great underground Canadian talent and imports from across the pond and elsewhere for years.  Click through racks and racks of CDs to find the perfect match for your eardrums, or sift through their record collection for the unmistakable sound that only vinyl can provide. Helpful staff are on-hand to assist you in your search for rarities and favourites, and Rotate! also sells tickets for the majority of venues in town so you can know what your night holds before you sit down for lunch.

Location:
620 Queen Street West

Hours:
11:00 am - 7:00 pm Monday-Thursday & Saturday, 11:00 am - 8:00 pm Friday, and 12:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday.

Speaking of lunch, explore some of downtown's eateries to indulge your sense of taste.  Just a quick walk down the road from Rotate This! on the northwest corner of University Avenue and Dundas Street, is the Avenue Cafe & Bistro, a little spot that offers a wide array of gourmet toasted and classic sandwiches to satisfy any taste.

Afternoon
Don't be surprised at the amount of time you spent perusing music collections and enjoying delicious deli offerings; it was well worth it and there’s still plenty of time to continue your musical exploration.

Massey Hall

Go on a tour of one of Canada’s musical landmarks. Massey Hall has housed some of the world’s greatest musical acts since its inception in 1894. Roam the same halls that Gershwin did. Touch the stage where Bob Dylan once played. See where Morrissey entertained the masses. This integral part of Canadian music history is a must-see for any devout music fan.

Location:
178 Victoria Street

Evening
Toronto’s downtown houses hundreds of culinary options to match any craving you desire. From the renowned pub fare of the Irish Embassy Pub and Grill to the fine dining at Canoe Restaurant and Bar located atop the TD Tower, a delicious meal is guaranteed no matter where your experience takes you. Mind our suggestion to eat well, though, as an exciting night awaits.

The Mod Club

There’s a reason this popular venue was voted #1 for live music. Prepare yourself for brilliant Brit Pop and head to the dance floor and release yourself to the infectious sounds that the Mod Club provides all week. A late night is promised the minute you walk in the door, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
